Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation

Whew that's a mouthful.  One of the perks of being a member of Influenster is occasionally you're picked to sample out products before they hit stores.  I've had some hits and misses, but for the most part I've actually found some items that have become staples in my beauty routine.

I was really excited to try out the foundation after finding out it was a matte mousse formula.  I've been curious how those products applied, and I have to say I was pretty underwhelmed with this particular product.  First, I requested a color about 3 shades too dark for my skin tone (obv my fault) but tried it anyway to get the full experience.

The texture was very thick at first and was more difficult to blend than it should be.

Maybe it's just my aging skin, but it definitely made my fine lines more noticeable, which is definitely not something I look for in a foundation.

On the left I obviously have foundation on (hi oompa loompa hand) and on the right I have nothing.
I don't know if because the color is so dark it made me lines more noticeable or what, but definitely not a good look.

As promised, it is lightweight.  After blending it didn't feel like I had anything on, but I did notice it came off on my clothes, so staying power isn't too great.

So overall, for me and my skin anyway, this product was a miss.  I did notice a LOT of positive reviews on the website though, and for the price, it seems like a good try!

*I received the foundation complimentary of Influenster, but all opinions expressed are my own.

Hello it's me

Holy hell it's been quite a while, and I know this because 5 of my keys on my Mac have stopped working, so a post that would normally take 20 minutes is now going to take until the sun comes up.  But that's ok!  Summers in AZ are...to put it nicely.. unbearable.  When it's 120 degrees out, the last thing you want to do is take pics while you're sweating your ass off, shunning your boyfriend for not knowing his way around a camera.  I know, I know cameras take a lot of work.  Let's look over the only shot Steve took:

"Babe, take a picture of me petting this cat."

Notice, it's totally blurry, and said cat is nowhere in sight.

I Should give some background.  We are not engaged. We're not married, BUT I'm as crazy as the last and signed us up for an open house at one of the venues I was dying to see.  So what you're about to see is a possibility for us in the future. (Don't judge me)

Is it not beautiful?!  Ughh I die.  We have another open house coming up soon so I'll update then!

Tropical Prints

I don't know what it is, but I've always been a fan of tropical prints, which is pretty great for me since I've been seeing them all over the place.

Life and Blueberry Muffins

Whew life is speeding on by.  Our little one is already 6 months old!

Liam is no longer a Kindergartner...

Made some awesome muffins...

That's about it.  A little pool time, a lot of me being crazy and laying out on the tile in our backyard...

life is good.

Stitchfix review part two

So Wednesday I revealed the shirt I ended up keeping from my Stitch Fix box this month.  (Actually the pants I wore were a keeper from my last box.)

And after we did that photo shoot and I decided I wasn't keeping anything else, I decided on not making a big deal out of the items I didn't keep.  Hey, people, it's over 100 degrees here, I would have a heatstroke if I did a shoot for each item.

At first look, I was SO excited to try everything on.

Lookin' good.
 (Well, the clothes are anyway.)

So, I liked the dress, actually I think Steve liked it more than I did, but a casual dress like this has to really wow me to justify paying $58 for it. (I'm cheap, I know.)  I made a mental note that if I was still thinking about it in a few months, I'd ask for it again.

Again, cute print, liked the colors....but it was priced a little high for me.

Not too bad, cute print, very light and flowy.....until I took my hands off of my hips and this happened:

Um. No.  I tried tucking it in, but the bottom front is like a pleated-ruffly weirdness, so that didn't work.
The price point was perfect ($34) but it was not flattering at all.  Boo.

I also got a skirt, and I'm kind of disappointed they would have sent it to me and expect me to buy it.
The seams were coming apart inside the waistband, so I really didn't even try it on.
That's really the only true disappointment I've experienced so far, but I'm only two boxes
in so we'll see!

I'm already all signed up to get my next box, and you can do so here: Sign up!
It'd be awesome if you used that link (I'll receive a credit towards a box)!

Weekends are the best

Ohhhh this weekend was lovely.  I drank, baked, napped, drank, made awesome food and drank some more.

So I had an order from Rent the Runway and the dress I was hoping and praying and watching from afar ended up looking like total crap on me.  It really is hit or miss, the material just looked worn, like it had been dry cleaned one to many 10000 times.  But the dress I did go with....*cue angels singing*.  If it had been one size smaller it would have been perfect.

I didn't want to, but I had to belt it.  Without the belt I looked like a little girl
playing dress up in mom's clothes.

Liam was the ring bearer and my niece Charlotte took on the role of flower girl.
They look adorable, if I do say so myself.

Rent the Runway is awesome.  I wasn't paid for this post (hey, RTR I'd love to do a sponsored post) but I will forever and always recommend them.

Also, it's wedding season and I'm a blast after a few cocktails.  Anyone want to invite me?!

I really suck at this blogging thing

Ok, it's been over a week since my last post.  How does that even happen??

Honestly, I think I get so caught up in reading all 200+ blogs on my bloglovin' roll, that I don't even
consider the fact that "oh damn, I have a blog of my own".

Lately I've been getting dressed.  Not only that, I've been getting dressed and leaving the house.
I know this might not seem like a big deal, but ummm when you've got two kids and the temps are 100+ I can assure you it's actually a really big deal.

Do you know any professional photographers that accept payment in the form of cookies??

You know what's awesome and I've been totally abusing?? Airbrush.  Have two kids and try to tell me you don't need a little airbrushing.  Airbrush overkill is better than my real skin, trust me. ;)

I actually do really pick fruit from that ladder, actually I'm using the lemons in a marinade!

But hell do I need to purchase a remote.  In 100 degrees I break a sweat walking back and forth to take pics.

But there ya go.....I don't wear heart print sleep shorts 24/7.
